The Rolfing Training
Modular Format
The Basic Rolfing Training in the modular format begins with three 5-day workshops. The themes of Phase I are structural and functional analysis and basic treatment strategies. The foundations of Anatomy, Touch and Movement will be laid.
If you feel you might need additional preparation before going into phase 1 our pretraining courses Orientation or Spectrum ROLFING could be an attractive option for you.
You will end Phase I with the third 5-day workshop, followed by the admissions process, including an anatomy test and interview. During this first phase of the Basic Training the foundations of structural and functional analysis and basic intervention strategies have been laid.
Phase II is called "Embodiment". The individual sessions of the traditional series that Dr. Ida Rolf developed each have a structural and functional theme. During this part of the Rolfing Training you will be introduced to the theoretical background of the treatment plan or 'recipe'. You will observe the ten sessions. And you will do practical exercises and learn to perform interventions on one another. Finally, working with a fellow student, you will develop a treatment strategy for the ten sessions and carry it out under supervision. There will be both mid-term and final interviews.
Between Phase II and III there will be two tutorials. They each take half a day and offer very personal coaching in small groups of up to four students. The purpose is to satisfy specific needs and to catch up on those things that you have not yet fully understood.
Phase III is called the "Clinical Phase." Here you will apply the knowledge and skills you acquired so far. Under supervision you will develop strategies and work with a minimum of two clients. The structural changes during the treatment series will be documented and the treatment results will be evaluated and discussed. There will be mid-term and final interviews.
After the completion of Phase III, the Basic Rolfing Training ends and you will be recognised as Certified Rolfer. The first year of a Rolfer will be accompanied by tutorials and ends with a six day Supervision workshop.
